Shippingport, Pennsylvania

Shippingport is famous for being the site of the United States’s first commercial nuclear power plant, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station, which began operation in 1957. The original Shippingport Reactor was decommissioned in 1982, however, the Beaver Valley Nuclear Generating Station is still in operation.
